We created the Wappenshall Wharf Community Garden Project to involve people of all ages in enhancing the area surrounding Wappenshall Wharf. Volunteers are currently helping to develop a variety of planting areas, and we already have a rose garden, seasonal planters, and an alpine and rockery garden.
In the future, we plan a shade garden, a wildflower border, herbaceous and cottage-style planting, and raised beds for vegetables and herbs to use in the Welldeck Café.
The community garden has been generously supported by Telford & Wrekin Council, idverde’s Community Investment Fund, David Austin Roses, and Roden Nurseries. We have also received donations from Chris Jones and other volunteers of cash, plants, soil and manure to help establish the gardens.
We welcome volunteers of all abilities to come and get involved; we have regular gardening days offering a great opportunity to help create and care for this shared green space.
