The Welldeck Café is accessible for wheelchair users and baby strollers from the car park. Block paving surrounds the café building and leads to a grassed area. The East Basin does contain water so everyone (especially parents with children) should take suitable care.
The Upper Deck (our upstairs meeting space) is only accessible via a stone staircase with a handrail. The rest of the wharf isn’t currently accessible, as the larger warehouse is still under restoration.
We can accommodate prams and pushchairs, although the café is quite small so please ask us where you can store yours whilst you are with us.
Children are welcome in all areas of the café, and in The Upper Deck for private events. We have changing facilities and some high chairs available.

Wappenshall Wharf hasn’t always been the welcoming heritage venue you see today.
After the canals were abandoned by an Act of Parliament in 1944, they were left to fall into disrepair. In 1968, the wharf was sold by British Waterways to a coal merchant, who used the site for a decade before selling it to a truck repair business.
Telford & Wrekin Council bought it in 2008 and later leased it to our Trust on a 125-year peppercorn rent. Since then, our volunteers have worked tirelessly to bring the East Basin back into water, restore the smaller warehouse, and transform it into a café and meeting place.
